Money and spirituality: how to reconcile the two to live in true abundance

Discover how to reconcile money and spirituality, heal the guilt of cashing in and live in true abundance from the soul with this reflection by Mabel Katz.

A reflection on how money can be an expression of love, awareness and gratitude.

For a long time, money and spirituality have been seen as opposites.
Many of us were taught that money “corrupts”, that poverty is more “pure” or that being spiritual means not needing anything.
Without realizing it, these ideas sowed guilt, fear and scarcity in our hearts.
But the truth is simpler and more luminous:
Abundance is spiritual.

Why material money is also spiritual

Everything that exists comes from the same Source.
Money, energy, love, the air you breathe... all are expressions of the same creative power.

When we reject money in spiritual contexts, we are unwittingly rejecting a part of the divine creation.
And, even more profoundly, we are rejecting our own value.

Money itself is neither “good” nor “bad”.
It only amplifies the energy of the wearer.
In conscious hands, it becomes a tool for expansion, healing and service.

Paying is not buying, it is thanking

When we pay for spiritual teaching, we are not “buying” wisdom.
We are participating in a energy exchange.
Money becomes a sacred vehicle that allows gratitude to take shape.

Giving with awareness keeps the flow of abundance alive.
Receiving with humility allows the flow to continue.

In the Universe, everything is motion:
the breath, the ocean, life itself.
Giving and receiving are part of the same rhythm.
When one of the two is blocked - when we give without allowing ourselves to receive or receive without giving - the energy stagnates.

To practice balance between the two is to practice abundance.

The real obstacle is not money: it is fear.

Many of us carry conflicting messages about money in our ancestral memory:
“I don't deserve”, “money is dirty”, “it's not spiritual to charge for helping”.

These beliefs do not come from divine truth, but from human programming.
Therefore, from Ho'oponopono and Zero Frequency®, we learn to erase those memories, to free them with love.

Guilt and fear do not sustain spirituality;
the trust and gratitude, yes.

When you trust, you give without fear.
When you are grateful, you receive without guilt.
And in that conscious exchange, abundance flows effortlessly.

Money as a mirror of your relationship with life

Your relationship with money reflects your relationship with life itself.
Are you afraid you will be lacking? Maybe you're afraid you won't be enough.
Do you hold it back for fear of losing it? Maybe you also have a hard time trusting or letting go.
Do you deliver it with resentment or guilt?
Perhaps you find it difficult to receive love freely.

Money only amplifies the energy with which you relate to it.
If you see it as an enemy, it will bring you conflict.
If you see it as an ally, it will help you grow.

Money isn't meant to fill voids, but to express fulfillment.
It comes when you realize that you are already abundant, and all you want to do is share it.

Why Spirituality Also Needs the Support of Money

For years, many people have given of their light, their time, and their wisdom without expecting anything in return.
But even spirituality needs support.

Money is the way in which the energy of gratitude manifests itself in the material world.
When you allow yourself to receive, you are honoring the flow of creation.
And when you give, you’re nurturing that same flow so it can continue to grow.

The Universe knows no lack.
He only understands balance.

Have you ever felt guilty about charging a fair price for your spiritual work?

Benefits

Feel at peace when you get paid

When you let go of the beliefs that make you doubt your worth, charging for your services becomes second nature. You’re not asking for “too much” or taking advantage of anyone—you’re simply allowing energy to flow. Charging with peace of mind is a way of honoring your time, your journey, and the inspiration that flows through you.

Freeing Yourself from Guilt About Money

Guilt stems from old, inherited beliefs. When you surrender those memories to the Divine, the tension dissipates and clarity emerges. You give yourself permission to receive without carrying the burden of what you learned in the past.

Open yourself up to receiving abundance with confidence

When you declutter, you attune yourself to the natural abundance of the universe. Receiving no longer feels like a risk, but rather an act of love toward yourself. You trust that life supports you and that you deserve to be provided for.

To live in abundance is to live with confidence

Abundance doesn't mean hoarding.
It means go with the flow.
It is knowing that what you give comes back to you multiplied,
and that what you receive takes nothing away from you, but rather blesses everyone.

Money becomes spiritual when you use it with awareness, gratitude, and love.
“When you choose to pay for a spiritual class, you’re not spending money—you’re affirming that you believe in the value of what nourishes your soul.”.
When you stop looking for it out of fear, and start to to allow it out of faith.

Every time you choose to give or receive from the heart,
You are affirming your faith in divine abundance.
You're realizing that nothing is lost, that everything flows,
and that life always provides for those who trust.

Practical Steps to Reconcile Yourself with Money

Observe your beliefs without judging them
Just take a moment to notice what you think or feel about money. That awareness alone is a form of cleansing.

Expressing gratitude when paying
Every payment is an opportunity to say “thank you,” allowing energy to continue flowing without resistance.

Allowing yourself to receive without guilt
I said to myself, “Thank you, Divine One, for this gift.” Receiving is also an act of love.

Using Ho’oponopono When Managing Money
Whenever you feel tension or fear:
“I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”
This releases the memories that are affecting your relationship with abundance.

How to Start Healing Your Relationship with Money

Identify the predominant emotion
Is it fear, shame, guilt, or anxiety? Whatever you’re feeling, surrender it to the Divine.

Clean up every time you think about money
Repeat your favorite phrases: “Thank you,” “I love you,” “Dewdrop,” “Key to the Light”… The important thing is to let go.

Honor your courage
Review your prices, your billing methods, and your payment processes. Ask yourself if you’re putting yourself last.

Create small acts of openness
Be grateful for every penny, every income, every opportunity. Gratitude opens doors.

Stay open to inspiration
Abundance comes in unexpected ways when you clear out. Don't try to control it. Just trust.

Money does not corrupt.
What corrupts us is forgetfulness: forgetting who we are, where we come from, and why we are here.

When you remember your true self,
Money is returning to its natural place:
in the service of love, consciousness, and growth.

Thus, the act of paying becomes a prayer,
the act of receiving becomes gratitude,
and abundance becomes your natural state.

Mabel Katz's Monthly Class, November 2025: Money

Money is energy in the service of love

Money is neither the enemy nor an obstacle to spirituality. It is simply another way in which love manifests itself to sustain life.
When we use it with awareness, gratitude, and responsibility, it becomes a channel through which the Divine can work.
Letting go of our beliefs about money allows us to remember that true abundance is the natural expression of love in motion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Money and Spirituality

Is it wrong to charge for helping someone?

In Ho’oponopono, there is no such thing as “good” or “bad.” Everything is memory or inspiration.
Charging for your services doesn't make you any less spiritual; it simply acknowledges that your time, your energy, and your presence have value. Money allows energy to flow in balance: you give, and you receive.
Inspiration always comes when the exchange is fair for everyone.

Is it possible to be spiritual and financially prosperous?

Of course. Spirituality isn't about renouncing material life, but about living it with awareness.
Abundance is a reflection of your inner connection: when you clear out the clutter, you allow life to provide you with everything you need.
Money doesn't keep you from spirituality; memories about money do. When you let go of them, both aspects naturally come into harmony.

How can I stop feeling guilty about charging for my services?

Guilt stems from memories, family and cultural beliefs, and past experiences.
In Ho’oponopono, we don’t need to “analyze” them; we simply let them go: “I’m sorry, I love you.”
As you cleanse, the emotional burden lifts, and you gain the certainty that you are acting in alignment with the Divine.
The result is simple: you can relax because you know you're helping restore the energy's balance.
